I think job interviews perpetuate a society based on deceit. It gets me down. I'm amazed that more people aren't making this same complaint, and can only assume that most people feel that there isn't anything dishonest about barefaced lies because they feel that everyone knows they're lies - the rationalisation being that if everyone knows that a statement is a lie, then it's not a lie. I will make one comment, however: the last job interview I went to skipped all the traditional questions and focused on a test of the skills required by the position. Now THAT'S my kind of job interview. The person interviewing me (now my supervisor) was 25 at the time. Glimpses of a new trend?
